Beverly Holik started training martial arts at the Tactical Defense Academy. She first began with Gracie Jiu-Jitsu where she later earned her Blue Belt. During this time she began to watch other classes and developed an interest in Jeet Kune Do and the Filipino Martial Arts class. To get a good striking foundation, she started training in TDA’s kickboxing and boxing classes. She soon began training in the JKD and FMA classes to complete her game. After several months of training, she was already showing special talent and her interest was constantly growing. In addition to group classes, she began to train privately with Clay Pratka on a daily basis. She quickly became one of his most dedicated students and her skills were growing at a phenomenal rate. Since she was rapidly becoming more advanced than most of the other students, she began to assist in teaching the beginners and it was then that Clay noticed her teaching ability and encouraged her to peruse it further. Shortly after, she accompanied Clay on a training trip to California to train with PFS Founder Sifu Paul Vunak. During this private training experience, she was awarded an Apprentice Instructorship. Beverly began to teach group classes as well as private lessons at the Tactical Defense Academy to hone her skill as an instructor. She also attended an Advanced Edged Weapons Course as well as a Law Enforcement Force Continuum Course given by Sifu Paul Vunak, Sifu Singh and Sifu Thomas Cruise. She received instructorships for both categories. During these training courses, she was selected to appear in Sifu Paul Vunak’s latest Instructional DVD. Her most recent achievements have been being granted a Phase 1 Instructorship under Sifu Paul Vunak for Progressive Fighting Systems as well as being accepted into the cutting edge Descendants of the Masters organization. Beverly continues to grow as a martial artist and as a teacher. She believes in constant growth and always continues her training and self Improvement. She also believes that her martial arts training is not complete without a good workout routine so she is currently active in the Action Strength (Kettle Bell and Body Manipulation) fitness program, working on earning an Instructor ship as a Action Strength Trainer. In addition to Martial Arts and Fitness, Beverly is a College Student attending Texas State University in San Marcos and is in the process of opening TDA’s newest location TDA San Marcos. Her positive attitude and outgoing personality make her classes extremely enjoyable as well as educational.
