Christopher LaBriola is a 47 year old male, born and raised in NYC since 1962. He served in the U.S. Army from 1980-1986 (honorably discharged). Chris is a college graduate with an A.S. in Accounting and a B.S. in Management and Finance. He began studying martial arts in 1990 with Master Nakamura in Seido Karate. After receiving his blue belt in 1991, he began studying Tae Kwon Do. In 1995 he received his black belt in Tae Kwon Do from the World Tae Kwon Do Federation. From 1996-2000 he studied Aikido, and achieved the rank of brown belt. The new millennium brought in a whole different concept of studying martial arts.

Chris began to seek the total martial art. He received his black belt in San Yama Bushi Ryu Jujitsu. This is traditional Jujitsu which encompasses concepts of Judo, Jujitsu Aikido, and Karate. This rank was awarded by, Shihan Hector Negron (chief instructor of Shihan Antonio Pereira of Myiama Ryu Jujitsu). In 2003 while studying traditional Jujitsu, he received his blue belt in Brazilian Jujitsu under Relson Gracie. Still in search of the complete martial art he began studying the art of JKD under NYC’s top JKD’s instructor’s such as Dan Anderson, Sifu Luigi Cuellar, Alex Chen, Nick Sacaulus and Bill Pavlik. Each of these instructor’s focused on different elements of JKD which enhanced his understanding of the art. These elements included Muay Thai Boxing, American Boxing, Mixed Martial Arts, Wing Chun, Savate, Silat, Kali, Sayoc Kali, Brazilian Jujitsu, Street Fighting and Eric Paulson’s Combat Submission Wrestling. In 2008 he was introduced to Thomas C. Cruse (Vice President and Chief Training Officer for Progressive Fighting Systems). This was the art he was searching for, pure street defense.
